GLASS DOMES

These aren't no crappy PVC canvas domes with small plastic windows that are sure to fade. These domes are tried and tested in the harsh desert.

MOUNTAIN TOUGH DOMES WITH THE ULTIMATE VIEW

Bringing the amazing glass domes of Wadi Rum, Jordan to Colorado with some design enhancements for better suitability for the weather; all while keeping a maximum clear glass area for those amazing views.

The following images are from my trip to Wadi Rum, Jordan. These images are to show what the finished product looks like. The size of domes are identical and the color scheme is similar.

THE COLORADO DESIGN

1) Instead of single pane glass, I am using double pane tempered glass with an air gap. With a total thickness of 3/4” these panels are extremely strong and well insulated.

The Colorado Design is the dome I have for sale. The key differences to the above Wadi Rum Design are:

2) The blue glass section will have an additional 3/4” foam insulation with aluminum panels for the interior

3) The color scheme will be black aluminum frame, clear glass, blue glass, grey interior walls, and a blue curtain

IN SUMMER 2024

IN FALL 2024 MY PERSONAL DOME WILL BE OPEN FOR TOURS

Direction of the clear glass is very important when considering the location. I am personally electing to face the clear glass North or NE since my property is in Cañon City and is quite hot. I plan on covering the dome in portions of the summer when not in use. You may want the clear glass facing more south if you don't have a very hot summer or plan to use it primarily in the winter.

For my interior I am going with a murphy bed, mini-split air conditioning/heating unit, but no bathroom. All HVAC, water, and electrical will run through floor of the deck from behind the bed. There is plenty of room to add a bathroom behind the bed as you can see in the tour video. For the skylight I am designing a magnetic cover to use when uninhabited and expect it to be available with the kits. The skylight allows for great natural light and wonderful stargazing at night.
